MORE THAN A CAP ON YOUR PILING
A softer glow. A simpler dock.
The DokLite Solar Piling Cap Light combines an illuminated piling cap with solar-powered dock lighting. It charges during the day and switches on automatically at dusk, adding ambient white or blue light without running electrical wiring to each piling. Choose the cap size to fit your measured piling diameter.
01 / SOLAR
Let daylight do the charging.
An integrated solar panel and rechargeable battery power the LEDs. There is no external power supply or electrical circuit to run to the cap.
02 / LIGHT
Choose white or blue.
Select white for a neutral-looking accent or blue for a different waterfront atmosphere. Each light has one selected LED color.
03 / BUILD
Made for the waterfront.
Made in the USA, DokLite uses a UV- and impact-resistant housing. Its cap design also helps shield the top of the piling from rain and birds.

TWO WAYS TO LIGHT YOUR DOCK
Which LED color is right?
White LED
Choose white for a straightforward ambient accent around your dock pilings.
Blue LED
Choose blue for a colored accent that carries a different mood along the waterfront.
Choose the LED color separately from the post size in the product options. These are fixed-color versions, rather than color-changing lights.
Automatic after setup
Once the operating switch is enabled, the light sensor handles dusk-to-dawn switching. Actual illumination time depends on the charge available.
MEASURE FIRST. GET THE RIGHT FIT.
Which cap size should I choose?
Measure straight across the top of each piling, checking more than one direction because timber pilings are often irregular. Use the largest measured width when checking the cap’s fit. If the measurement exceeds the listed limit, choose a larger suitable cap.
| Select Post Size | Maximum piling diameter stated by DokLite | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| 7-Inch | 7 in | The 7-inch model is listed with a 7-inch inside diameter. |
| 8-Inch | 7โ in | Nominal 8-inch cap; the manufacturer specifies a 7โ -inch inside diameter. |
| 9-Inch | 8โ in | Nominal 9-inch cap; the manufacturer specifies an 8โ -inch inside diameter. |
| 10-Inch | 10 in | Choose a larger cap if the piling measures more than 10 inches. |
| 11-Inch | 11 in | Choose a larger cap if the piling measures more than 11 inches. |
| 12 ¾-Inch | 12¾ in | DokLite markets this as its 12-inch model; its product page lists fit up to 12¾ inches. |
A cap can overhang the piling; it does not need to grip tightly around the wood to seal. Correct seating of the included floor matters. If a piling is unusually small, irregular or close to a fit limit, confirm the appropriate size before ordering.
Sizing follows DokLite’s individual product pages, including its 8-inch, 9-inch and largest cap listings.
Example: a piling measuring 8½ inches
The 9-inch option has a listed inside diameter of 8โ inches, so it accommodates an 8½-inch piling. The 8-inch option, with a 7โ -inch inside diameter, does not.
DAYTIME CHARGING. EVENING LIGHT.
Plan around your sunlight.
Place the cap where its solar panel can receive available daylight. Nearby structures, shade and weather affect how much energy the battery collects.
DokLite states that a full charge can provide up to 24 hours of illumination. That is a maximum under suitable conditions, not a promise of the same runtime every night.
Before first use, the installation instructions call for eight hours of sun exposure with the switch OFF. Set the switch to its operating position before final mounting.
READY FOR YOUR INSTALL
What’s in the box?
- 1 × DokLite solar LED piling cap light in the selected size and LED color
- 1 × white reflector floor
- 3 × stainless steel mounting screws with washers
The floor is part of the installation: it provides the reflective base and helps form the seal when correctly seated.
UNDERSTAND THE PARTS
A cap, a floor and a secure fit.
The assembled light sits above the reflector floor on the piling. The supplied screws and washers secure the cap to the piling through the mounting holes.
Prepare a level top surface so the floor seats correctly. Hold the assembly firmly down while securing it, and avoid overtightening the screws.
PLAN THE INSTALL BEFORE YOU BUY
From the box to the piling.
1 / Charge and enable
Charge in sunlight with the switch OFF as directed, then enable operation before securing the cap. The 7-inch model has its own instruction sheet.
2 / Position above the water
DokLite specifies installation at least two feet above the high-tide waterline. These lights are not submersible.
3 / Seat and secure
Set the floor and cap level on the piling, then use the supplied mounting hardware. Follow the instructions for seating, sealing and switch access.

BEFORE YOU ORDER
Common questions
Does it need electrical wiring?
No. The integrated solar panel charges the battery, so no external power supply or household wiring is required.
Does it switch on automatically?
Yes. Once enabled, its light sensor switches it on at dusk and off at dawn. Runtime depends on the available charge.
Can it be submerged?
No. It is an above-water light. DokLite’s instructions specify at least two feet of clearance above the high-tide waterline.
Should I order by the nominal cap size?
Measure the piling first and use the fit table above. The 8-inch and 9-inch cap labels differ from their stated inside diameters.
