Apex Lighting Project Spotlight: Brightening Lighthouse Point

Lighthouse Point is a beautiful Fort Lauderdale suburb known for having incredible weather, perfect views of and access to the beach, and endless nightlife options. It’s also close to the Hillsboro Inlet.

After purchasing three lots in the area near the Hillsboro inlet, a new plan was constructed by an Apex Lighting customer to build one home that spans all three lots. The property is right on the water with a perfect view of the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse. Until the plan is ready to execute, the new owner wanted to bring beautiful, yet temporary, lighting to the existing docks on the property.

Lumitec Kraken RGB LED underwater dock lights were installed to provide stunning and helpful nighttime lighting. The system, implemented by Apex Lighting, allows the owner to change the color and modes from their iPhone with the click of a button using the POCO iPhone App. The lights, as pictured above, are currently set to blue, but if you float by the docks on any given night, you may also see purple or green coming from beneath the docks.

The lights also come with a three-year warranty. Lumitec Kraken Command Centers were also utilized for the project.

The project was simple and straightforward outside of one consistent challenge -- boat traffic. The inlet, as the name implies, is a place of constant action with small and large vessels coming in and out. Non-stop boat traffic complicates working on the float our technicians utilize when installing underwater lights. Falling in, losing tools, or dropping materials into the saltwater is a constant struggle. But don’t worry, no lights were lost or harmed during this project.

When construction begins on the property, we’ll be back to remove the underwater lights and equip the new home and dock with the right lighting.
